Jeffrey
Buttle is Making His Mark on the 2004-2005 Season
Jeffrey Buttle, born in tiny village of
Smooth Rock Falls and formerly trained by
Wendy Philion in Sudbury
is starting the 2004-2005 figure skating season with a bang.
In
the ISU Grand Prix segment held in Halifax during October, the
MasterCard Skate Canada Int., Jeffery placed third behind two other
Canadian men.
In the middle of November he won gold at
the Cup of China in Beijing with a commanding lead of nearly 14 points
ahead of his competition.
And he won silver behind Plushenko in
December at the prestigious Grand Prix Final!
Last season Jeffrey also won gold at the
NHK Trophy meet in Japan, silver at the MasterCard Skate Canada
International in Mississauga, Ont., and silver in the International
Figure Skating Challenge at Auburn Hills, Mich.
These days Jeffrey splits his training
time between Barrie, Ont., and Lake Arrowhead, Calif., and is the latest star to rise from
head coach Doug Leigh's world class training center, Mariposa. Brian Orser and
Elvis Stojko came from the same center and went on to win world
championships. Could this be the year that Jeffrey joins their heady
company?
