Who Gets Jeffrey
Buttle?
I
have just finished reading a news item about Jeffrey Buttle's win at the
BMO Canadian Championships held in London, Ontario, where he dethroned
the reigning three-time champion Emanuel Sandhu. It seems everyone wants
a piece of our Northern Boy Made Good these days.
Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario claims Jeffrey
because he was born there.
The city of Barrie, Ontario claims him
because he trained, and still does to some extent, at the world renown
Mariposa school.
Lake Arrowhead, California now says he's
one of theirs because he trains there as well.
And the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario
claims him too, after all he does skate for the Sudbury Skating Club and
still has strong ties with the club and coach Wendy Philion.
Confusing? Sometimes. But one thing we
all know is that we're proud as can be that our northern golden boy is
making the world sit up and take notice.
