Inner Connections for Living

Is Pain a Friend
or Foe?
Connecting body, mind
and spirit and experiencing our whole selves is a healthy way to greet
life. Listening to our intuition as we navigate through our lives could
be one of the most powerful things we do. Since every moment of life is
recorded and stored in the body, it could be truly helpful to let this
wisdom have its say. Our very tissue holds us accountable to past
memories and beliefs. It’s not by chance that at times we experience a
searing headache or a fired up stomach or a lump in the throat.
How can our bodies go
from calm to heightened sensation within a moment? What happened in
that moment to create such a response? How did we perceive ourselves in
that moment to create such a squeeze on the body? If these symptoms are
not addressed they may result in chronic pain and conditions that leave
the body weak and susceptible to disease?
Pain gets your
attention and may be directing you to rethink your thinking.
We access a greater
knowing of ourselves when we view the body as an intelligent living
system that continually ‘speaks’ to us about our powerful or powerless
beliefs. Our body seeks our attention with its signals of discomfort so
that we may choose to move beyond beliefs that hold us victim to long
forgotten memories.
In this healing process
we look at how our bodies hold and recall our history. Hurtful
experiences generate protective thought systems that, over time, weaken
the body. This is not ‘talk’ therapy but rather an active way to engage
the information in the body’s tissue and relieve it.
“A new scientific
understanding of the power of our minds and our feelings
to affect our health and
well-being.” Dr.
Candace Pert, Ph.D.
Intuition is a direct
response to our thoughts that guide us every moment. Holding onto weak
belief systems over time compromises our health. These fearful beliefs
attract less than powerful events into our lives. We attract a more
fulfilled and happy life by listening to our body’s ‘messages’.
