Sunset Country runs from Quetico Wilderness Park in the southeast, west to the Rainy River area, far into the northland, back east to Pickle Lake. It includes Savant Lake, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Kenora, Sioux Narrows, Fort Frances, Ignace, Vermillion Bay, Dryden, and English River.
Whether you love to fish, hunt, canoe, or just be outside, you'll find something here that suits you just right. The avid bird watcher is in for a treat with hundreds of different bird species just waiting for his visit. Virgin forests are yours to explore. This area is home to some of Canada's largest populations of moose, deer, and black bear. Canoe down the same routes used by the fur traders and Natives hundreds of years ago. Visit historical sites such as the "castle" on White Otter Lake, or Native burial mounds. Join in a catch and release fishing tournament, this area is known for trophy sized fish. Visit fur trading posts and old forts, or take part in just about any water based sport you can imagine.
This area boasts one of Canada's top ten walleye lakes and is home to three of the world's best muskie fishing areas and all within a half days drive of much of the US Midwest.
