Helpful Eating Tips
I think everyone who has a toddler will
tell you that from one day to the next it’s a battle on trying to find a
balance on what is healthy and what your toddler really wants to eat.
Remember meal time and snack time is a social time for them. Here are a
few tips to lend a helping hand.
1. If there are only two of you at home, eat with your toddler. It
doesn’t have to be at the dining room table. During snack time why not
get a blanket and sit in the floor. It’s fun and easy, and your toddler
will think its great!
2. Don’t fill the child’s plate, it’s over whelming and they may think
they’ll never finish. Start with small amounts and give more as they
request it.
3. Introduce new foods one at a time. Make sure that there are some of
their favorites on the plate as well. Encourage the toddler to try a
least one bite if the new food. Give it a couple of days and try it
again.
4. Don’t bribe your child with desserts or treats. As long as the child
has attempted to eat, allow him/her to have a little dessert with the
rest of the family. A child knows when their tummies are full, if you
bribe it only creates bad eating habits.
