Women's Health
Women are special. We have a few more moving parts than men and we are
cyclical in nature. Our hormones change on a daily basis, affecting our
moods, energy level, and as a result, our relationships with others. If
you, as a woman, expect to stay the same daily, you are fighting an
uphill battle and your expectations are unreasonable.
For men reading this, the way in which a woman changes from day to day
I’m sure is baffling to you. Don’t despair. It’s often baffling to us
too!
Like riding a horse, it is more important for women to get into the
rhythm of your own body and align it with the rhythm of nature.
Having recognized these things, it is important for women to protect
themselves against hormonal insult. Changes at puberty or at menopause
that are not going smoothly and that are causing problems such as PMS,
painful periods or hot flashes and insomnia, need to be taken care of
quickly. Otherwise they will progress and become severe and cause you to
become so out of balance that you will attract other illnesses such as
arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and others.
The best strategy for women is to keep a balanced lifestyle and put YOU
first. This may sound contradictory to your nature if you take care of
the kids and your husband before yourself, but if you don’t care for
yourself first and fill yourself up, what do you have to give?
Putting yourself means getting 8 hours of solid sleep nightly at all
costs, drinking 1-2 litres of water daily, eating 4-6 fruit per day,
eating 4-6 vegetables daily including a green salad, and eating protein
at each meal, along with a small amount of carbohydrates for stamina and
nervous system relaxation. It means getting a minimum of 20 minutes of
exercise 6 days per week so that you are balanced every day. Rest on
Sunday or Saturday to recharge. (This does not include housework!) Most
important to women is to fortify yourself spiritually before coming in
contact with others. Pray, meditate, read the Bible. Fill yourself up so
you have something to give to the world.
When a woman is ‘full of herself’, she turns heads, has energy to give
in a loving fashion, and can move through the day with ease and grace.
Stay tuned next month when we discuss Spring cleansing as part of how to
be your best!
