Fall
Cleansing
Some people think that
the body only needs cleansing in the spring. But think about it:
does your house need a good cleaning only in the spring? No. Does
your car not require an oil change and preparation for the winter?
Of course! And we're no different.
Fall cleansing
can be very beneficial in clearing out all the remnants from
barbeque season and party times. It is also very necessary for
the purpose of freeing up cellular energy that is a vital requirement
for the heating of the body in the winter. It also takes energy
and resources to alter the viscosity of the blood for proper
insulation of its components and the body in general during
the winter months.
Cleansing
simply gives the body's organs a break so that the body can
make the necessary multitude of changes. The body also needs
more sleep during the fall as the weather becomes cooler and
the seasons change from high-energy Yang time to the nurturing,
building, hibernating Yin time.
Seasons
mark change and we have to respect them and move with them.
It is when we fight them that we get sick.
Many people
think that the flu shot and vaccinations are our best protection
against illness at this time of year. Rather than putting mercury,
formaldehyde, and aluminum along with virus and bacteria soup
(which by the way has no long-term track record) into our arms
and bodies, I believe it is better to support our God-designed
immune system by getting extra rest, eating hardier, more warming
foods such as vegetable, chicken, or carrot ginger soup, quieting
our activities, and doing a cleanse or fast.
If you don't
cleanse or fast, chances are your body will produce a fever
anyway because the liver is attempting to cleanse itself. The
other symptom of a toxic body is fall allergies.
So, what
type of cleanses are helpful? Water fasting for three to four
days is helpful for experienced fasters and cleansers. The Master
Cleanser, which is made up of 1 litre of distilled water, juice
of two lemons, 1-2 tablespoons of maples syrup, and a dash of
cayenne pepper, is beneficial for most people with the exception
of diabetics, and can normally be sustained easily for four
days.
People who
have a lot of fatigue, who overate during the summer, who are
full of yeast, or have diabetes or other health problems need
to stick to a regime such as the yeast buster kit, which is
available at most health food stores. Simply follow the directions
in the booklet and take all sugar, yeast foods, wheat, dairy,
vinegar, and shellfish out of the diet.
Lastly,
there are liver cleanses with liver herbs such as milk thistle,
dandelion, and greater celandine which cleanse and support the
liver, the colon and the entire hormonal system that is made
from cholesterol in the liver.
Remember
to ensure that the colon is working well at this time of year.
If it is not, disease can ensue and form the basis for lung
problems. (Lung and large intestine are coupled organs.
So good
luck with your body's fall tune up. We'll see you in November.
