A northern Ontario town on Highway 17 west of Thunder Bay, Ignace�s economy centers around forestry, rail, natural gas transmission, and tourism. Ignace is known for its first class outfitters and fly-in holidays.

Some of these summer fly-in summer holidays are turned into snowmobile ice fishing holidays during the winter months. Talk to any of the locals, and they will relate tales of great walleye, northern pike, whitefish and smallmouth bass fishing. Some of the outfitters will provide anglers with a map of the area with hotspots marked off.
