Baladi Belly
Dance and Roma Gypsy Dance in the Greater Sudbury, Ontario
Rachelle Connors
Rachelle Connors teaches Gypsy and Belly Dance at
Lucie De La Fontaine’s Baladi National Baladi Dance Studio in Greater Sudbury,
Ontario.
The lovely and captivating Rachelle began
her dance career at the age of seven. She studied tap, jazz, ballet,
modeling, and gymnastics.
In 2001 she met Lucie De La Fontaine and
was immediately drawn to Egyptian belly dance. Lucie became her teacher
and mentor. With Lucie’s encouragement and support Rachelle expanded her
studies to include Gypsy (Roma) Dance.
The vivacious and sensuous Rachelle has
studied with some of the best names in world dance, including the
Egyptian dance master Denise Enan, the world renown Hadia, male Oriental
and Folk dancer Magdy El Leisy (the Egyptian Mr. Bean), Ansuya (called
one of the greatest talents in the world today), Yasmina (The Joy of
Belly Dancing), and Roma dancer Dominique Favreau.
With honey colored skin and a thick mane
of dark hair watching Rachelle dance quickly conjures images of
campfires and wagons and the untamed romance of gypsy legned.
Today Rachelle leads the Gypsy Dance
section of Lucie’s school where her love of the dance and its students
is demonstrated each class as she brings her own unique joy and outlook
to this colorful and earthy dance style.
