"Therapeutic Riding
has many benefits to offer students with disabilities. Rider and
horse share a special bond that grows with each meeting. The students
look forward to the outdoor experience as is evident in their faces
and smiles upon entering the barn. Disabled students that can not
walk feel a unique freedom and control when the horse responds to
their commands - a freedom they may not command of their own bodies.
There is no better way to exercise the mind and body for these students."

Daniel
"It was amazing
to see how Daniel reacted to the horses. Daniel rocks all the time.
Firefly (I think) bent down & touched Daniel's arm. Daniel reached
up & pet her nose & stopped rocking & smiled. He seemed
so calm & relaxed. It was something to see. What a great experience
for Daniel. I hope he gets to visit your stable again."
Edward
"Edward loved the
whole farm experience, from the dogs, chickens & of course the
horses. He enjoyed grooming & saddling the horses. He learned
he had to be gentle & caring with the animals. He beamed for
days after & still looks at the pictures of himself on the horses."
Maia
"The smiles told
the whole story. Maia loves riding.
Physically helping
her with balance & upper body strength."

Ryan
"Ryan loves being
outside. He has two dogs of his own at home. Riding for Ryan helped
his balance & fine motor skills by holding onto the horn of
the saddle. He seemed to like riding the trails & the colours
of the leaves in the fall. He smiled while brushing & feeding
the horses."
"The
benefits of theraputic riding for our students are numerous. The
smells of the barn, petting the animals. Just being outside in the
sun, rain and even snow. I would definitely recommend this experience
for all students in our programs. Hopefully, we'll be able to continue
in the spring."
