The Legend of the Elephant
Vietnam

The elephant has traditionally embodied the values of faithfulness, strength and goodness.  With his trunk down, an elephant is ready to fight for victory.  A Vietnamese legend tells the story of young boy and his elephant that became more like friends than servant and master.  As the years passed, they grew old together, until the young boy became an old man and died peacefully in his sleep.  The elephant was so sad that he refused to eat, and soon the two were reunited in death, together as
they had been in life.
